Fall River / Trail Ridge Loop
Located in Rocky Mountain National
Park, this 32 mile loop climbs up Old Fall River Road (dirt), to an elevation of
11795 Feet at Fall River Pass. From there, the route rejoins Trail Ridge Road (paved) for
a 20 mile descent back to your car. Scenery along the way is spectacular, with
ponderosa and lodgepole forests, mountain meadows, alpine tundra and towering peaks. Wildlife
viewing opportunities also exist, with elk being common in the alpine valleys
below Fall River Pass.
Please note that since this ride takes place entirely within Rocky Mountain
National Park, it is only legal to ride on marked roads. Old Fall River Road
opens early in the summer to bicyclists, before it opens to cars - check with
the Information
Office for details. Entrance to the park
requires a pass, daily passes may be purchased at the entrance stations,
discounts are available to bicyclists, see Park Fees.
